Active Clubs

Bearcat Bowling

We are a non-competitive club. We meet once a week at the local bowling alley and play 3 games and learn more about bowling!

Bearcat Golf Club

We are students from Northwest that practice golf daily, taking the top players and competing in competitions and tournaments representing our college. Players not able to make the tournament roster will still practice to one day make the roster. The club is a member of the NCCGA.

Bearcat Winter Guard

Winter guard is an indoor version of color guard. It is derived from military ceremonies and combines the use of flags, mock rifles, sabers and other equipment with interpretative dance. Bearcat Winter Guard perform within MCCGA and WGI.

Club Baseball (non-active)

This organization is to provide baseball players who enjoy the game an opportunity to continue playing after High School with more competition than the intramural level of sports. The club is a member of the NCBA Mid-Atlantic region.

Disc Golf Club is student organization to promote good sportsmanship, skills development and athletic competition.

Esports

Competitive gamers on campus that represent the University as the varsity Esports team. The club's advisor/coach is Andrew Murphy. The school's first Esports facility opened in fall 2020.

Fishing Club

We are a club on campus to help people of all fishing levels increase their fishing skills and meet people with the same interest. We provide access to collegiate fishing tournaments that compete against other colleges nation wide.

Men's Basketball Club 

Northwest Club Basketball is an organization that provides students a chance to compete in a more competitive setting than intramurals. We are a member of the Great Lakes West Conference in the National Club Basketball Association (NCBBA). Tryouts are held each fall.

Northwest Horsemen's Association

The Northwest Horsemen's Association seeks to make riding and equine education available to Northwest students through a combination of hands on riding opportunities, educational workshops, and service-learning. The club also acts as Northwest's Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) chapter for students interested in competitive showing.

Northwest Trapshooters

We are students from Northwest Missouri State University that practice the art of Trapshooting twice a week, taking the top shooters to competitions and Tournaments to represent Northwest. We embrace shooters that want to be competitive, hobbyist or beginners. We want every student to have the opportunity to enjoy shooting sports.

Northwest Wrestling Club

Northwest Wrestling Club is a student sports club. We will be training and competing using folk-style wrestling to compete against other wrestling clubs in the area.

Rugby Club

To educate the student body on rugby and provide a platform for students to express interest in playing or following the sport. This organization is to work closely with the local rugby club to ensure proper education on rules and regulations.

Soccer Club

We are a team of diverse students with one very important thing in common. We love soccer! Both men and women, undergraduates and grad students, American and International, we love to play, we live to compete.

Sport Club Highlights

Fall 2019

Baseball

  • Won their first Fall game against Maryville University & scored as many runs in that series as they did all of last Spring, prepared for their spring season (12-15 game season)

Cricket

  • Reorganized and activated the club for the first time since 2017, organized two tournaments within Hughes Fieldhouse

Esports

  • Rainbow 6 team made it to the open bracket playoffs, Melee team qualified for regionals, Smash Ultimate competed in a St. Louis tournament with 435 other students, with the highest placement being 97th

Fishing

  • Participated in 4 tournaments, Logan Newlin & Jacob Cacek qualified for the National Tournament in Minnesota, the club sent volunteers to Fishing for Freedom (veterans fishing tournament), Blake Charbenou & Nathan Itao placed 48th out of 131 boats at the Lake of the Ozark tournament

Golf

  • Hosted school’s first ever tournament, increased club members from 6 to 28 students, placed 4th in both tournaments, Zach Van Dorn received a positions as a National NCCGA Ambassador

Rugby

  • Returned 8 members and added 30 new members & had wins over the University of Kansas & the University of Missouri- Kansas City

Tennis

  • Organized & activated the school's first Tennis Club, looking to schedule competition in the future.

Trapshooters

  • Hosted school’s first ever home meet, had a fall record of 3-1 (only loss coming to a scholarship based program)

Winter Guard

  • Conducted tryouts and set the club roster, club has 16 competitive members for the spring, first competition is set for Feb. 1st at Belton HS

Fall 2017

Equestrian Club

  • Equestrian Club hosted their first annual Fun Show and volunteered at the November Fuzzy Horse Show.

Rugby Club

  • Rugby Club had a great recruitment of new members. The Club hosted a Rugby tournament watch party and attended a few Nodaway Count Rugby Team home games.

Bowling Club

  • Bearcat Bowling Club grew their membership and held practices every Sunday and Monday.

Baseball Club

  • The Baseball Club doubled their roster size during the fall. Their team record was 1-4, including a win against University of Kansas Club Baseball.

Fishing Club

  • The Fishing Club volunteered and competed multiple times during the fall.
  • They started the semester with a highway clean up and attended Fishing for Freedom, a fishing trip taking veterans out on Truman Lake.
  • The Fishing Club competed in the FLW College Fishing Event in Wisconsin and placed 34th and 36th out of 112 teams.
  • The Fishing Club also hosted the Annual Bearcat Open on Mozingo Lake with eleven boats competing.

Soccer Club

  • The Soccer Club competed in their first game against Missouri Western. Although, they lost, they scored a goal and were very proud of competing.

Wakeboard Club

  • The Wakeboard Club competed in a tournament during the fall. Overall the team, placed 4th out of 8 teams, competing against universities such as Arizona State and Baylor.

Volleyball Club

  • The Volleyball Club grew into a bigger club. For now, they are recreational, but they hope to become competitive within the next year.
